Odalys and her family arrived in New York in August 2022. They are among the more than 165,000 immigrants who have come to the city in the past two years, most of them Venezuelan. Lacking the infrastructure to shelter everyone, the city turned schools, gyms, and hotels into housing for the newly arrived. Now, Odalys faces the challenge of settling in a city that has told her it has run out of space.
