For years, Paso Canoas, the main border crossing between Panama and Costa Rica, welcomed thousands of migrants seeking to reach the United States by land. Now, more than a year after Donald Trump came to power and implemented his draconian anti-immigration policies, Paso Canoas is receiving a different kind of migrant: those who’ve decided to return to the country they had left behind. We visited Paso Canoas to understand what this reverse migration means for the town and for the region.
