Our Inheritance

In Parán, a small town in the Peruvian Andes, there are many blind men. Our producers Marco Avilés and Annie Murphy tell us the story of this isolated village and a plague of blindness that could not be explained.

This story was produced in collaboration with PRI’s The World.

Photo: Parán resident Lorenzo Torres walks to the town center to buy food; Torres is blind, and the walk usually takes him about two hours.

Reporting: Marco Avilés y Annie Murphy
