What is the value of a public university?

The University of Oriente in Cumaná used to be a driving force for the middle class in one of the poorest states in Venezuela. But as things in the country started deteriorating over a decade ago, the significance of this public university was questioned. A group of workers, professors, and students had to do everything in their power to defend it.
