The Fall of River

Since its founding more than 100 years ago, River Plate has been one of the premiere soccer clubs in all of Latin America. Many stars of Argentine soccer got their start with the team, and went on to play on some of the best teams in Europe. For years, River Plate won title after title, but all this changed in 2011, when the team faced a crisis, and was relegated to the Argentine Second Division. From Buenos Aires, Cristian Alarcón introduces us to Atilio Costa Febre, the official voice of River Plate on Radio Mitre, who had the unenviable duty of narrating this catastrophe. Somewhere between fan and journalist, Costa Febre’s version of River Plate’s fall from grace is unique and unforgettable.
